Oftentimes, these students need a “holding place” to go while other students are testing.
While not ideal, it’s becoming more common.
If this is necessary, I recommend having an instructional assistant supervise a relaxed room for these students.
Students are able to read, draw, and work on academics while they are waiting for their peers to complete the mandated testing.
Once the group is done, they return to their class.
Then, the students who have not yet tested are pulled out of class when the 1-1 tester is available.
Why wasn’t the tester doing the 1-1 testing while the other groups were going?
Well, typically the adult doing the 1-1 testing also has a small group of special education testers.
All-in-all, schools typically run out of adults.
