Decorating with Branches
Do you love nature? Do you love free home dรฉcor?
Add a real tree limb to your homeโs style and bring together gorgeous home living and the great outdoors. ย
First, find a good ceiling or corner in your house that has ample space for a tree branch to be mounted and wonโt be in the way of doors or block the flow of movement in your house. ย
Then, start looking for the perfect branch to fill your area by going out into the woods. ย
If you don’t own a woods then ask a neighbor that you’re friendly with or wait until a nice little thunderstorm has come along and make a new friend with someone who has a down limb in their yard. ย
After youโve selected your branch, youโll need to cut it off of the tree, trim off any broken branches or anything pieces you know are not going fit exactly in your area, and bring the branch (carefully) into your house. ย
To mount the branch you are going to need to secure it. ย
I used silver hook screws and clear fishing line for this. ย
In the picture shown I have eight hooks supporting this tree branch. ย
First, you need to install three of the screw hooks into the ceiling joists to support the heavier weighted areas of your branch. ย
Then, wrap fishing line around the branch and then knot the line around the hook screw. ย
Once you have the limb secured to the ceiling, step back and look at what sections of the branch are too low and need pull closer to the ceiling. ย
Begin using the remaining hook screws until you are happy with the placement of the sections of the branch. ย
You may want to trim unwanted pieces from the branch during installation or when you are finished. ย
Your final project will look glamorous as it is or you can hang ornaments across the branch to add an element of color to your ceiling.
